First Appearance Fullmetal Alchemist manga #1: The Two Alchemist

Alphonse Elric is the second main character and protagonist and younger brother to Edward Elric in the anime/manga Fullmetal Alchemist. He is a teenager of about 13-16, a year younger than his brother. (In his human form) He has blond hair and golden eyes, just like his brother. They get it from their father, Van Hohenheim. Alphonse is brave, intelligent, noble and kind-hearted like Edward, but most noteably, he is very nice (to people). Undoubtedly, he plays the role of the 'nice guy' in the series. He so friendly and polite that this sometimes even leads him to be a bit naïve, for instance, when he told an enemy who was inside his armor to be careful not to harm his blood seal, thus revealing his weakness to the enemy. Alphonse's body in the continuity of the series is but a large, 7-foot-tall suit of armor which his soul is bonded to as he lost his real body in the Human Transmutation incident.

Trivia[]

  • When the Elric brothers were children, they fought over who would marry Winry Rockbell and Al won. However, as teenagers, Al holds no love interest in Winry whereas Ed, in fact, does.
